Meet: 9am outside the Jane Austen Centre, 40 Gay Street, BA1 2NT 

A combination of walking and driving visiting outdoor locations in Austen’s Persuasion and Northanger Abbey. Includes Charlcombe, described by Jane ‘as being sweetly situated in a little green valley’ and finishes with the best view of Bath from ‘that Noble Hill’.

Meet: outside the main door of Bath Abbey, BA1 1LT

What was socially acceptable? Outdoors with Jane Austen and her female characters. How much freedom did unmarried girls/women have in Jane Austen's time? Did they really need a chaperone to accompany them, and how much fun was allowed? Through Jane's characters and her own life in Bath find out with Bath Parade Guides what young women did once they were away from the confines of home.

As Danced in Bath - Regency Dance Workshop

Murder at Mansfield Park

Sir Thomas Bertram of Mansfield Park is shocked to discover that a murder has been committed at his home. Whilst apparently without motive, Mrs Norris, Edmund Bertram and even Fanny Price are the main suspects, as is Sir Thomas Bertram himself. Included in your ticket is a 2 course meal.

Starting with a driving/walking tour of Austen’s Bath, then on to charming Corsham, to stroll the remarkably unspoilt High Street where Ross Poldark first saw Demelza. Next Lacock - a village trapped in time and location for Meryton and Highbury. Then back to Bath and finishing with the best view of Bath from ‘that Noble Hill’.

‘Bath is a charming place, with a variety of amusements, who could ever be tired of Bath?’ So said Jane Austen’s character Catherine Morland in Northanger Abbey, which along with her novel Persuasion is set in Bath. Through family links and having visited and lived in the city, Austen knew Bath very well indeed. Come and find out more on this walking tour led by Mr Knightley of The Jane Austen Centre.

Write Like Jane Austen - Calligraphy Workshop

Meticulous Ink lead this accessible and creative workshop which will introduce you to the wonderful world of copperplate calligraphy, teaching you how to use a dip pen with a flexible nib, make basic strokes, and form letters in a distinctive copperplate style. By the end of the workshop you'll have the skills to begin writing confidently in beautiful script lettering. All tools will be included to help you begin forming your own individual style.
