A combination of walking and driving visiting outdoor locations in Austen’s Persuasion and Northanger Abbey. Includes Charlcombe, described by Jane ‘as being sweetly situated in a little green valley’ and finishes with the best view of Bath from ‘that Noble Hill’.

‘Bath is a charming place, with a variety of amusements, who could ever be tired of Bath?’ So said Jane Austen’s character Catherine Morland in Northanger Abbey, which along with her novel Persuasion is set in Bath. Through family links and having visited and lived in the city, Austen knew Bath very well indeed. Come and find out more on this walking tour led by Mr Knightley of The Jane Austen Centre.

What does Jane Austen mean to you? What would you tell her if you could meet her? Join this collaborative writing event led by artist Alejandra Carles-Tolra and write your own letter to Jane! Alejandra Carles-Tolra is inviting everyone to take part in this new project to create an archive of letters that celebrate Austen’s impact in today's society.
Drop by at 12 noon for a conversation between Alejandra Carles-Tolra, author of Where We Belong, and Sophie Andrews, author of Be More Jane, who will share anecdotes and behind the scenes moments from the award winning photographic project Where We Belong.

Join other Austen lovers for an informal bring-your-own picnic in the beautiful surroundings of The Holburne Museum grounds and Sydney Gardens. Find the perfect spot to picnic amongst friends. Enjoy promenading through the gardens and discover a circus spectacle to celebrate the opening of the Sydney Gardens Restoration Project.

Meet: 1:15pm outside the Jane Austen Centre, 40 Gay Street, BA1 2NT

Starting with a driving/walking tour of Austen’s Bath, then on to charming Corsham, to stroll the remarkably unspoilt High Street where Ross Poldark first saw Demelza. Next Lacock - a village trapped in time and location for Meryton and Highbury. Then back to Bath and finishing with the best view of Bath from ‘that Noble Hill’.

Austen’s apocryphal Undone is her lost first novel (well, it might be!). Containing original attempts of many of her celebrated characters and ideas, this is a fabulous melange of Austen favourites – with a hilarious twist. Experience the novel first-hand as it comes to life in the passages and parades of Austen’s Bath with duels, romance and scandal guaranteed!

The Country House in Jane Austen's Novels

The name Jane Austen is synonymous with rolling parkland, grand Palladian porticos and candlelit ballrooms, but how accurate is this picture to the works and life which inspired the image? Join Lizzie Dunford, Director of Jane Austen’s House, for a virtual afternoon stroll around the country houses of Austen’s novels, both on the page and on screen.

Emma - Little Theatre Cinema Screening

Venue: The Little Theatre Cinema, St Michael's Place, Bath, BA1 1SG

Known for its comfy chairs, and vintage aesthetics, the Little Theatre Cinema in Bath is a firm favourite for watching new releases, and much-loved classics.  To coincide with the Jane Austen Festival, the cinema will be showing the 2020 Emma adaptation for one evening only. 
The period romantic comedy film directed by Autumn de Wilde, from a screenplay by Eleanor Catton, based on Jane Austen's 1815 novel of the same name. It stars Anya Taylor-Joy as Miss Emma Woodhouse, the rest of the cast includes Johnny Flynn, Josh O'Connor, Callum Turner, Mia Goth, Miranda Hart, and Bill Nighy.
