For those of you who watched the television adaptation of Sanditon roughly two years ago, you will be excited to hear the show has finally been renewed for a second season and is expected to premiere sometime early next year. To add even more good news to the renewal of Sanditon, a new convention is also due to take place next year.
Running for two weeks, the new convention has been named 'Sandicon' and will open at the Kimpton Fitzroy Hotel in London on March 13th. The first week will feature welcome drinks, guest panels and tours around the city. Guests will be able to explore the landmark hotel and admire the 19th-century exterior whilst attending the convention. Even more exciting is the fact the Kimpton Fitzroy Hotel is located in Bloomsbury, the intellectual and literary hub of London known for its publishing house and association with British intellectuals such as Virginia Woolf.
The second week consists of a tour around the British countryside, including a visit to Jane Austen's House in Chawton and ourselves at the Jane Austen Centre in Bath. The tour will also stop off at filming locations associated with the show, such as Dyrham Park, Frampton Court and Orangery, as well as the vibrant city centre of Bristol.
The convention aims to unite fans and celebrate Sanditon, both as the tv show and as the last novel Jane Austen wrote but sadly did not get to finish. Fans of the show had to fight hard to get Sanditon renewed for a second season, and so the convention will be a brilliant opportunity for people to unite over their love for Charlotte Heywood. All proceeds made from the event will be donated to three UK charities- Jane Austen's House, Reach The Children, and School-Home Support.
You can follow Sandicon on social media (Instagram, Twitter) to keep up to date will all news relating to the convention or alternatively, you can browse their website to learn more. Tickets are available as week or day passes, so you can tailor your experience to suit your interests. It sounds like the event will be an exciting experience for all and an opportunity for fans from all over to explore London, Bath and Bristol.
