Here in Bath we are blessed to have some of the most beautiful Georgian buildings in the world.
However, this does pose some challenges for us to keep our events in certain venues accessible for everyone.
Find out about each of our Jane Austen Festival event venues below.*

Art Pad
- The property is a ground floor apartment.

Assembly Rooms
- THE ASSEMBLY ROOMS ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED FOR RENNOVATION WORKS.
- Accessible toilets situated on the ground floor.
- Step free access to the ground floor.
- The acoustics of the rooms mean that this venue can be very noisy.
- The nearest long-stay car park with 24 Blue Badge bays is Charlotte Street, BA1 2NE, a ten minute walk away. Blue Badge bays also on Bennett Street
Bath Abbey
- Toilets can be accessed via a ramp and lift. Lift width is 35 inches.
- Bath Abbey is wheelchair accessible. There is level access at the main entrance and throughout the Abbey's ground floor and the Abbey Shop. The main entrance door width is 50 inches.
- The nearest accessible public parking with blue badge bays is available at: The Podium, Northgate Street, BA1 5AL (approx. 5 minute walk away)

BA2 4DS (Entrance via Great Pulteney Street)
- Accessible toilets and clubhouse pavilion accessed by a ramp.
- Level access to lawn 1 from the car park.
- Access to the other 3 lawns via a few steps with a handrail.
- Croquet games will be played on grass & players will need to travel over grass to reach the lawns.
- Players will need to be able to see the ball & hoops, and have a feel for the whole lawn and the position of the other balls on it.

Bath Guildhall
- There are accessible toilets on the ground floor and first floor.
- Step-free access to the ground floor of the Guildhall either via the door by the High Street entrance to the market between 9am and 5pm, or via the rear of the building within the car park and up the ramp to the main back door.
- Lift access to the first floor
- The nearest car park is Manvers Street with 5 Blue Badge bays.
Bath Medical Museum
- There is no access to water or WC's at the museum, the nearest facilities can be found at Marks & Spencer nearby.
- Wheelchair access to the museum is available.

Bath Pavilion
- The main entrance has steps but there is easy access using a ramp to the side of the building.
- Accessible toilets are located in the Lower Foyer area.

- The nearest car park is Bath Cricket Club which has 2 designated disabled parking bays.
Bath Spa Train Station
- Bath Spa is a step free Category A station - step free access available to both platforms via lifts from the main station entrance.
- Accessible toilets available on each platform.

Beckfords Tower
- There are 38 steps to enter the museum space, and another 127 to climb the Tower to the Belvedere level. However, the Tower Vault which has level access from the main pathway. There is a level pathway running the length of the site which is fully accessible from both the Grotto car park and the Tower car park.
- Entry to the caves have irregular stone steps with a handrail.
- There is one accessible toilet in the Grotto car park. This is accessed through a radar key when the Museum is open.
- There are 2 Blue Badge parking spaces at Beckford’s Tower. One is located at the Grotto entrance, and another at the Tower entrance. Please email tower@bptrust.org.uk if you wish to book one of these spaces in advance.

Bird Hotel
- The Bird Hotel can accommodate guests with limited mobility, although it is not fully wheelchair accessible, Festival events can be accessed with a ramp.
- There are accessible toilets on the ground floor.

BRLSI
- Ground-level disabled toilet
- Access to the venue via one step, a ramp can be provided.
- Lift to access the first floor

Brocks Outdoor Adventures
- The site is based on an off-grid location half way up Kelston Roundhill & everywhere onsite is uneven & in places on a decline/incline. There are wood-chip on all the paths to prevent slips, trips & falls. The walk over to the Archery Ranges involve some stiles. There are also a few shallow steps to access the Archery Range.
City of Bath Scouts
- Accessible toilets situated on the ground floor.
- 1 step up into the front door, then ramp access down to the main hall.

Herschel Museum of Astronomy
- No accessible toilets. Only toilet is situated on the basement floor via stairs. The nearest accessible toilets are at Charlotte Street Car Park, a 10 minute walk from the museum.
- Museum access is not step free, although the ground floor rooms are on the same level as the entrance, accessed via a few steps.

Holborne Museum
- There is level access to the front door which opens and closes automatically. The ground floor is level. There is a lift to all floors.
- There are public toilets which are wheelchair accessible, on the ground floor and in the basement. The basement toilets are accessible via the lift from any floor.
- There is a hearing induction loop at the Reception Desk and also in the Picture Gallery on the Second Floor for lectures and events and in the Clore Learning Space.
- There are parking spaces for Blue Badge holders on site.
Jane Austen Centre
- Access is via two steps to the shop, a ramp is available.
- Please be aware there is no step-free access to the tea-room, talk room or toilets.
- There are four-flights of stairs between the entrance and the Regency tea-room.

Kinwarton

- No accessible toilets. Only toilet is situated on the ground floor inside the house.
- Talks take place on the first floor, only access by 2 flights of steep stairs with a handrail.
- Flight of steep steps up to the front door to enter the house, no handrail.
- No nearby parking.
Library (Bath Central)
- Accessible toilet available in the Podium shopping centre just by the entrance of the library, ask library staff for any help.
- The Library is on the first floor of the Podium Building. There is step-free access via lifts from the parking level and street level.

Little Theatre
- There is a small step at the entrance to the cinema, alternatively you can access the cinema via a ramp into Screen 1 which allows step-free access to our Kiosk.
- There is no elevator within the cinema and access to Screen 1 balcony is via 11 steps and to Screen 2 is via 32 steps
- There are no adapted toilets at the cinema. However, these facilities are available within easy reach of the cinema in Seven Dials or in The Grapes pub next to the cinema.
- Parking for drivers with disabled badges is permitted in St Michael's Place (adjacent to the cinema) at any time for up to three hours, provided an Orange Badge and clock are displayed.
Mission Theatre
- Access to the main auditorium and disabled toilet via two steps, a portable ramp is available.
- There is no step-free access to the cafe upstairs and the stairs are uneven.
- The nearest long-stay parking with 11 Blue Badge bays is Avon Street, Bath BA1 1UF.
No 1 Royal Crescent
- An adapted WC is located adjacent to the lift on the ground floor and can be accessed via the accessible lift or by descending 11 steps.
- Accessible to Wheelchair Users - Step-free route around museum, which misses four rooms.
- The nearest long-stay parking with Blue Badge bays is Charlotte Street , BA1 2NE.
Percy Community Centre
- Accessible toilet on the ground floor.
- Access to building via ramp with a handrail.
- Access to the Sports Hall (dance workshop venue) via lift or staircase with handrail.

Prior Park Cardens - Main Entrance
- There is an accessible toilet access to which is via a steep ramp/slope.
- There is no general parking onsite at Prior Park. There are however two Blue Badge parking spaces, please call on 01225 833422 or email ahead to book.
- The car park has uneven surfaces, slopes/ramps and a lack of pedestrian walkways to cross the car park.
Pump Rooms
- Accessible toilet on the Reception Hall floor.
- You will need to travel across cobbles to reach the entrance to this venue. Step-free acces from Abbey Churchyard.
- The nearest drop-off point is Terrace Walk, BA1 1LN. It is less than five minutes' walk to the Roman Baths.
- Nearest car park is Manvers Street with 5 Blue Badge bays.
Roman Baths
- Accessible toilet on the Reception Hall floor.
- You will need to travel across cobbles to reach the entrance to this venue. Level access entrance via the Pump Room doors in Abbey Churchyard.
- Step free access to the Great Bath via two accessible lifts.
- The surface of the floor around the Great Bath is very uneven.
- Some of the walkways from the entrance to the Great Bath have low levels of lighting.
- The nearest drop-off point is Terrace Walk, BA1 1LN. It is less than five minutes' walk to the Roman Baths.
- Nearest car park is Manvers Street with 5 Blue Badge bays.
St Swithin's Church
- Accessible toilet.
- Level access into the main church.
- Stairlift connecting the main church and the crypt.
- Nearest long-stay car park with Blue Badge bays is The Podium.
Sydney Gardens
- Accessible toilet.
- The gardens are fully accessible.
- The nearest car park is Bath Cricket Club .
Theatre Royal
- Accessible toilet.

Waterstones
- Level access from the road.
- No available accessible toilet on-site. General toilet facilities are available on the first floor accessed via lift.
- There is a lift to the first and lower ground floors, but there is no step free access to the café.

Lacock Venues
- Wheelchair-accessible entrance and on-site, free parking.
- A wheelchair-accessible restroom is available at the Stables café, located in the Red Lion car park.
- The pub itself has a split-level bar area with a step, which may limit access to certain areas for wheelchair users.
- For specific needs, it is advised to contact the venue directly, especially due to the historic nature of the building
- There is car parking on site, with designated bays for Blue Badge holders.
- The site offers toilet facilities with adaptations for disabled people, which can be found next to the Stables Café, and near the tea toom.
- There is no dedicated car park at Sign of the Angel. There is free parking in the village car park which has blue-badge spaces. . It is recommended to use this site rather than parking in the narrow, restricted residential streets of the village

Trowbridge Venues
- Wheelchair-access is available for the lower ground only.
- The main access to the Grand Ballroom is via an original 18th-century sweeping staircase, with no lift.
- It is recommended to contact Parade House directly before visiting or booking to discuss specific accessibility needs either by email or telephone events@paradehousetrowbridge.co.uk or Tel: 01225 592135
- Parade House is situated in the historic centre of the town, just two minutes' walk from Trowbridge station, and there is ample paid parking close by, Church St Car Park, Trowbridge BA14 8DU being the closest, with 2 designated blue badge spaces.
