Whilst we know many of you will have full diaries of Jane Austen Festival events to keep you busy, below are a few other 250th anniversary of Jane Austen themed and inspired exhibitions, dining opportunities and activities which you might wish to visit whilst you are in Bath.
Some are free, and some may require an entrance ticket - pre booking is also advised especially between the 11th and 22nd September 2025.

The Jane Austen Character Trail
May - 30th September 2025 | All day - complete at your leisure!
In celebration of Jane Austen’s 250th birthday, we are working with the Jane Austen Festival to create the Jane Austen Character Trail! From 31st May – 22nd September, find all 26 of the Jane Austen Characters hidden in shops around Bath city centre. The trail has been generously sponsored by jeweller Nicholas Wylde.
You can be in with the chance of winning the following:
- A personalised limited edition Jane Austen 250th anniversary pendant from Nicholas Wylde jewellers
- 2 x tickets to the Jane Austen Centre
- A lunch for two at the Ivy Bath Brasserie and Garden.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN THE JANE AUSTEN TRAIL?
Follow the trail in the competition booklet to discover the Jane Austen characters in each shop window. You have until 22nd September to submit your competition booklet at the Jane Austen Centre on Gay Street, or complete the online form.
We will collect all the winning entries, and a random entry will win the prizes stated above.

The Georgian Garden
Open daily | 9am - 5pm
Situated to the rear of the Circus, the Georgian Garden is a faithful reinstatement of an original garden dating from 1770. The re-creation of this eighteenth-century town garden was the first project of its kind in Britain, adding to Bath’s existing Georgian attractions.
The project to discover and re-create the Georgian Garden was undertaken by Bath Archaeological Trust in conjunction with Bath Preservation Trust and the Garden History Society.
Work began to restore the garden in 1985. Plants traditionally used in eighteenth-century gardens were planted, and architectural features were restored or replicated to faithfully recreate the nature of the original Georgian Garden, dating from 1770.

Bath Central Library - Temporary Library Card
Monday - Saturday | 9.30am - 4.30pm
Visitors to Bath are welcome to enjoy the library space and obtain a temporary library card to borrow books during their stay in Bath. To find out how to do this, visit the library website or drop into the library and ask.
Tuesday 16th 10:30- 11am: Children’s story time at Bath Central Library… with a Regency twist!
All ages are welcome, the stories will be aimed at children aged 0-5. Regency dress up is encouraged and Jane Austen colouring will be provided. This is a drop-in event.

The Centre is free to enter and features a host of interactive exhibits and displays designed to inspire, excite and inform. There are also free walking trails and guides to help visitors to the city explore all it has to offer.

250th Anniversary Austen-themed temporary exhibitions in Bath
Austens at the Abbey exhibition - Bath Abbey
5th April - 27th September 2025 | Open daily
In celebration of Jane Austen's 250th anniversary, our new exhibition will explore the links between Jane's family and fascinating people commemorated in Bath Abbey.
There will also be a programme of exciting events including a new display, guided tours, family activities, a film screening and our very popular Regency-themed church service.

In the 250th anniversary year of Jane Austen’s birth, our autumn display will offer audiences the chance to see the artwork behind their favourite Austen novels.
Centring around Austen’s stories and the characters she created, Illustrating Austen will demonstrate how our favourite characters came to life on the page and have evolved through the years, reflecting the changing times and new audiences.

Jane Austen in Bath - No 1 Royal Crescent

In 2025 No.1 Royal Crescent will celebrate the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen’s birth with a new temporary exhibition, “The Most Tiresome Place in the World“: Jane Austen & Bath.
Jane Austen had a complicated relationship with Bath. The scandals and shallowness of the city fuelled her cynicism and wit, and nothing escaped her scathing pen. And yet she wrote very little while living in the city. Letters, contemporary responses and the only manuscript she wrote in Bath will reveal the highs and lows of her time here, as this exhibition exposes how turbulence and loss cast a long shadow over Jane Austen and Bath.

Prior Park National Trust Landscape Garden

Take a turn around Prior Park Landscape Garden. It’s most refreshing. Visit a picturesque 18th century garden with its winding paths, hidden features and views over Bath.
Borrow a Regency prop or two to capture the best photograph on the Palladian bridge in one of the city’s most iconic sites.
