New for 2026, the Jane Austen Festival is having a day out! We are encouraging our fellow Austen-lovers to head to the picturesque village of Lacock (known to many Austen fans as the Meryton from the 1995 Pride and Prejudice) on Thursday 17th September, and providing a mix of pre-booked and drop-in activities.

Regency costume very welcome but not mandatory, we would love to see as many people in Regency costume as possible, as we turn back the clock to a Regency Lacock!

There will be coach transport provided, however you are very welcome to make your own way to Lacock. There will be plenty of things to do in Lacock: a visit to Lacock Abbey, two different group lunches will be pre-bookable, along with the Regency dance workshop and Book Club listed below. Within the village there are also a number of small shops, cafes and bakeries, along with the Church.

Coach transport, lunch, visiting Lacock Abbey (for both non members and members of the National Trust) & the Regency dance workshop must be pre-booked. Please do this by carefully selecting from the list of ticket options on the booking page which things you would like to book for.

National Trust members- the National Trust team at Lacock Abbey would really appreciate it if you reserve a free place for visiting Lacock Abbey to help them manage numbers on the day! Even if you are not joining us for any of the any other activities and will find your own way there, please let us know you intend to visit the Abbey.

“As Danced at Meryton” - Regency dance workshop_JAF26_webcrop.jpg__PID:3ed6b309-8bf2-4f6f-9d51-2a30e9748f6a

“As Danced at Meryton” - Regency dance workshop

11:00 (duration 1hr 30mins)

Venue: Lacock Village Hall, East St, Lacock, Chippenham SN15 2LF

Join The Jane Austen Dancers for delightful dances selected specifically from the Meryton scenes (Meryton Assembly & Lucas Lodge) of the Pride & Prejudice TV/film productions. These dances are fun and fast, but we won’t try to keep pace with Jane Austen’s Meryton Assembly where they danced twelve dances and the Boulanger!
Aimed at all levels of ability (but the dances are fast), there’s no need to bring a partner. Period costume (no trains) is welcome but not essential. Please wear flat, non-slip shoes, light clothing and bring a drink. You will need a good understanding of English to understand the dance calling.

Tickets £18

Lovers Vows_JAF26_webcrop.jpg__PID:a92c4c4a-c18b-41db-89c1-7016f66e9ec8

Lovers’ Vows - Exclusively in Bath for one night only!

20:00 (duration 1 hour)

Venue: Old Theatre Royal, 12 Old Orchard St, Bath BA1 1JU

What would have happened if Sir Thomas Bertram never came back early to Mansfield Park?
The Natural Theatre Company asked themselves that very question. You thought you’d never get to see it, but here it is at last; the (hopefully) full rehearsal of Elizabeth Inchbald’s Lovers Vows’ featured in Jane Austen’s iconic novel, acted out in all its chaotic glory. Will this play within a play be any good? Or will the play go wrong?
(Suitable for ages 12+)
