This world-famous event officially opens the Jane Austen Festival on Saturday 12th September 2026; purchase your wristband, put on your Regency costume and join 2000+ people all dressed in their historical finery. In 2025 we had approximately 2000 participants, join us for another spectacular promenade in 2026.
To take part you must purchase a wristband and be in Regency attire. This is a Regency costume mandatory event. If you arrive without a suitable Regency outfit you may be asked to leave the promenade as it spoils the "Georgian Bath" illusion we are creating with this event.
By purchasing a wristband you are contributing towards the costs of road closures, traffic control, road stewards and the safety marshals who keep everyone promenading safely, away from those new fangled horseless carriages. Our 2026 Promenaders (and those of the future) thank you greatly for supporting the Festival and this magnificent opening event.
As those of you who love dancing know, an agreeable partner is everything, and we are delighted to announce that again we have two partners for this year!- We are partnering with the lovely event managers at Bath Arts Collective to deliver the Grand Regency-Costumed Promenade in 2026. - Alongside them we are again pleased to have Postscript Books as our Promenade Sponsor and official Festival bookseller for 2026, supporting the Jane Austen Festival with the ever-growing running costs. Anyone wishing to find out more about this wonderful company head to their website, or visit their stand at the Festival Fayre.
"Welcome to Postscript – an independent bookseller established in 1987 and based on the edge of Dartmoor. From ancient history to contemporary fiction, our free monthly catalogue features over 500 hand-picked titles across a range of genres as well as publisher spotlights, author highlights and books of the month. We are thrilled to be sponsoring the Jane Austen Festival’s Grand Regency Costumed Promenade once more and supporting the work they do to keep literary heritage at the forefront of conversations."
