September is finally here in Jane Austen's England, and the scorching summer heat has started to ease, giving way to a more Autumnal chill. This will be welcome news to participants of this year's Grand Regency Costumed Promenade - I can only imagine what it would be like to don a full-length dress and bonnet in the temperatures we've seen this summer. Sheesh!

Excitement grows for Sense and Sensibility movie
With the newest Jane Austen adaptation hitting screens in late September, excitement is starting to build for Sense and Sensibility. Starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Daisy Creed-Miles as the Dashwood sisters, this new adaptation looks like it's going to be the perfect Autumnal transition movie, with a moving string soundtrack and plenty of yearning.
Geri Halliwell loses out on Jane Austen dream house
It turns out, what Geri Halliwell wants, what she really, really wants, is her own Jane Austen dream house. Sadly, it wasn't meant to be. Edgcote House, which featured as Netherfield in the BBC's 1995 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, recently went up for auction, with Halliwell and her husband Christian Horner offering £45 million for the sprawling estate. Unfortunately, they were outbid.
Austentatious makes waves at the Edinburgh Fringe
Every August the world descends on Edinburgh for its famous Festival Fringe, enjoying comedy, theatre, dance, and a whole host of other arts and culture events. Austentatious, everyone's favourite Jane Austen improv show, returned once again to the Fringe, taking centre stage at the Bristo Square Underbelly. The reviews are in! BBC Teases Other Bennet Girl follow-up
It seems that Edinburgh was really the place for Austen fans to be this summer. If you made it to the Edinburgh TV Festival, you might have heard BBC Director of Drama Lindsay Salt teasing further Austen-adjacent adaptations after the success of The Other Bennet Girl. Specifically, she mentioned Janice Hadlow's upcoming The Other Eliot Girl, offering us a clue as to which character we might be following next.

Jane Austen House acquires Anne Lefroy Miniature
The Jane Austen House museum at Chawton has acquired a fascinating miniature of Jane's mentor Anne Lefroy. Anne was also the aunt of Tom Lefroy, the reported object of Jane's affections. The miniature was acquired at auction and is now on display at Chawton alongside Jane Austen's handwritten copy of Lefroy's obituary, copied from the newspaper.

Puffin brings out new deluxe Sense and Sensibility edition
If there's one thing you can never own too many of, it's pretty copies of Jane Austen's novels. Well, good news, another contender has entered the arena. Puffin, Penguin Random House's children's imprint, has brought out a new deluxe edition of Sense and Sensibility as part of their Puffin in Bloom collection. It features a gorgeous floral cover and colourful sprayed edges.
Julie Andrews returns for second season of Jane Austen podcast
What a treat! After gracing our ears with her own rendition of Pride and Prejudice, Hollywood legend Julie Andrews is returning to the Noisier Podcast Network to bless us with Emma. Andrews will narrate the novel over 27 instalments. I can't really think of a better way to enjoy Emma Woodhouse's antics!
