Jane Austen Festival 2025

We look forward to welcoming you to the 24th annual Jane Austen Festival.

The 2025 Jane Austen Festival will take place from
Friday 12th to Sunday 21st September 2025

On December 16th 1775 Jane Austen was born in Steventon Hampshire. 2025 marks 250 years since this remarkable author came into the world. To celebrate this momentous year in Austen history the Jane Austen Festival will be holding some extra special events throughout the 2025 year, in addition to the ten days of Jane Austen themed events which make up the September Jane Austen Festival.

The full programme of events has not yet been released. Tickets will go on sale in Spring 2025.

Join our Festival mailing list to keep up to date with all Jane Austen Festival developments.
Keep reading below for more details on the 2025 Festival as they become finalised.

24th December 2024

We at the Jane Austen Festival wish you a very merry Christmas!

Our Christmas present to you is our Jane Austen Festival highlights reel, featuring all the best bits of the 2024 Festival. It is truly a thing of beauty, made by our wonderful Festival photographer and filmographer Sean Strange of Sean Strange Photography
A taster of events to come in the future!

As we head into the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen’s birth, please know that we are working hard to bring Austen lovers more of the events they just can’t wait to attend. We are duplicating and triplicating events; we’ve got more new event partners than Wickham had names on his dance card; we’re spreading out into ever more venues across our lovely Regency home city.

We are feeling very popular with our Festival Friends memberships having already reached capacity, however don’t worry - you don’t need to be a Festival Friend in order to buy tickets.

We still have a general sale release when anyone can buy tickets… if you were thinking of making a New Year’s Resolution to do with time - keeping and organisation, then let this be your motivation to see it through! Keep your eyes peeled for our newsletter emails and your ears open ready to hear those reminders, alarms and punctual friends ringing you at the exact moment tickets go on sale.

12th November 2024

And we will be hosting a ball in the

Pump Rooms on Friday 19th September 2025.

Finally, we are pleased to announce that we will be holding a large-scale, outdoor, Sense & Sensibility-themed event on the evening of Sunday 14th September 2025. The contents of this one will be kept secret for a little while longer however.

18th October 2024

We are sure that many of you are desperate for more whispers of what we’re planning for 2025, the 250th anniversary of Austen’s birth, so we are delighted to announce our 2025 Programme cover/poster. Picked for its affinity to Jane Austen’s blue dress portrait, and the gorgeous serenity of the dancer during this year’s Assembly Rooms Ball.

You may also notice we have had a slight logo update, to tie in with the very special 250th anniversary of the year Jane Austen was born.
